Dog Sledding

Shelley, Cliff, Sandy, and I were able to go dog sledding in the highest city in the US, Leadville, Co. We found this rental place that took dogs after they retired from racing in Alaska. This way the dogs were kept in good shape. We thought we would be going through the woods on trails, but we just rode around the flat areas. We each took turns being the Musher, driver, and riding in the dog sled or in the big sleigh that was pulled by our guide. The guide will pull the sleigh with the other riders and would stop periodically to change places and give the dogs a rest. The dogs would get really excited when the knew it was time to start running. This was quite an interesting experience and an acitivity that is popping up all around Colordo.

The person standing on the back of the sled is the one who drives the sled and is mushing. Then there is a rider who just gets to relax in the front of the sled. That was my favorite part. Shelley liked mushing the best.

This is the dogs pulling mom on the sled and Shelley is the musher. They were running up hill and going pretty fast. The dogs sure love to run!

The two people who were not riding on the dog sled rode on the sleigh which was pulled by our guide on a snow mobile.

Christmas Day

My parents and sister flew out to Denver for the holidays. Ross and I were very excited to have Christmas at our house and not have to go anywhere all day. Everyone woke up around 7:30am. We baked a ham for breakfast and then opened gifts. Most of our morning was spend watching Kendal open her presents and playing with her new toys. We had dinner around 6:30pm. It was nice to have spend this special holiday in one place.

Kendal wanted to share her wrapping paper once she would rip it off her gifts.

This is a pic of Kendal opening some of her gifts. It took her two hours to open her gifts. We did have to give her tons of help. She wanted to play with the gifts in the box and did not want to wait until we could get them out of the box.



Santa Claus brought Kendal a green dragon that makes noise when you put balls into it. She enjoyed playing with her new toys.

Opening gifts and playing with new toys made Kendal very tired. She had to take a morning nap which she has not done in at least four months!

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve Ross, Shelley, Cliff, and I went snowmobiling in Breckenridge, Co. We had a blast. We rode all the way to the top of the mountain and it was so high we were above tree line. We were at the Continental Divide. It was really beautiful. Ross and I rode on one snowmobile and Shelley and Cliff rode on the other. Cliff ended up going off the trail and got his stuck. What a shocker. We had a great Christmas Eve!

We told the grandparents! Since my parents were in town for Christmas, we gave them a picture of Kendal announcing she is going to be a big sister. Everyone was very surprised, but happy!

Ross and I found out we are pregnant! Yes, Kendal will be a big sister. She is very excited and cannot wait to break the news to everyone. We think the due date is August 20, 2006. What a great swim birthday! =) My second doctors appointment is on Jan. 6th. I went to the doctor and they think I am four weeks pregnant. At my next appointment we will have an ultrasound and be able to tell how far along I really am!

My name is Kendal Morgan Hedrick. I am 13 months old. This is the first time I played in the snow. I liked to eat it, but it got cold quick. I am now walking all over the place. And I said my first word "duck" last week. You can keep up with what I am doing if you check this site out often.
