Kayden's Bug Party
Kayden asked for a Spiderman birthday party. We had his party at the Bear Creek Nature Center and it was fabulous. The guide did a puppet show for the kids about insects. Then each child got a bug catcher and the guide took the kids on a walk and let them catch bugs. He brought a big white sheet and the kids would sweep their nets across the ground and I was shocked at all the bugs we saw. The kids had a blast. Kayden did not want anyone to sing Happy Birthday so we just had cupcakes and snakes. We had a fun day.
The nature center had tons of hands on activities for the kids to play with before and after the party. It was the perfect place for all the preschoolers.

Kayden Turned Three
The best thing about Kayden (maybe boys) is he does not need much to be entertained. He makes something out of nothing. The only thing he asked for was batman, so we gave him a batman helicopter and he loved it. We had donuts for breakfast and cupcakes for his birthday, but he refused for us (Ross, Kendal, and I) to sing Happy Birthday to him. He also told me no singing at his party. Funny kid!

BBQ Shrimp and Crawfish
Some of our good friends are moving to Germany in August. We get together with them about once a month and brew beer. I decided to do something a little different when we got together with them. I found some already cooked crawfish and shrimp at a good price at Whole Foods so I bought it. I made New Orleans BBQ shrimp and it was AWESOME! Kayden was calling it chicken but the kids loved it. We are certainly going to miss this family while they are gone but they should be back in a year!

Kayden's First Swim Lesson
This summer Kayden is taking a private swim lesson every Tuesday and Thursday while Ross and I are on the pool deck together coaching. The lesson lasts 30 minutes. He has done really well and is going under water and jumping off the side to his teacher. He feels like big stuff. These are from his first lesson.
